Michael was lovely - very warm and welcoming. He showed us the rooms we could use and the ‘format’. He encouraged us to light a fire in the dining room - which is massively important to us. He told us about the fish & chips at ‘Woods’ literally across the road. (The fish & chips were a much higher quality than the norm). 👍🏻
Our room (The Monmouth) was very large with a large en-suite (sun flooded in). We overlooked a Magnolia in bloom. The room was very quiet - no outside noise at all.  
My husband found the garden to be perfect for our Labradors. He said it was fenced. Lisa also provides a basket of doggie back-up items such poo-bags, towels.  
Overall we had a very comfortable, peaceful and relaxing stay overnight and would definitely return. Although we normally prefer breakfast in-house we can fully understand why breakfast isn’t served at Portland when there is a very friendly and efficient coffee shoppe literally 10 steps away - Woods. Plus there’s The Potting Shed.

Lisa was very friendly and accommodating. We liked the fridge, microwave and toaster for guests use and the spare dog towel came in handy as we forgot ours. We only stayed two days but took in Goodrich castle & both sides of Symonds Yat and will be coming back.

Lisa & Michael were the perfect hosts with the perfect house. Extremely well catered for and would happily stay again and recommend to friends. We brought our 9 month old doberman with us and he was made very welcome, huge garden to run around in. It also looks super pretty at night, many thanks.

What a gorgeous place, our room was comfy, clean and perfect, like the rest of the house! There's a large dining room and lounge which we could use at our leisure, including a shared fridge. The large garden is gorgeous, plenty of seating areas to relax, read a book and enjoy a gin or two! Our hosts Lisa & Michael were brilliant, made us feel so at home and couldn't have been more helpful. There is so much to explore, amazing pubs like Ye Olde Ferrie Inn, right on the riverside, which did amazing food. We will definitely be staying again!
